Review
This is official description
Hotspot Shield protects your entire web surfing session; securing your connection at both your home Internet network & Public Internet networks (both wired and wireless). Hotspot Shield protects your identity by ensuring that all web transactions (shopping, filling out forms, downloads) are secured through HTTPS. Hotspot Shield also makes you private online making your identity invisible to third party websites and ISP’s. Unless you choose to sign into a certain site, you will be anonymous for your entire web session with Hotspot Shield.
The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 1.0
When accessing free or even fee based open networks your personal data such as passwords, credit card numbers, and any data you send can be seen and associated with you personally. Since most antivirus software does not protect you from the network threat it is important that you have a program that will.
Hotspot Shield is small unobtrusive software that protects your computer while accessing Public networks (both wired and wireless). Hotspot Shield creates a virtual private network (VPN) between your laptop or iPhone and Anchorfree's Internet gateway. The virtual private network created helps you maintain your anonymity and protect your privacy by giving your machine an IP address external to your computer, thus making it impossible for hackers to track it back to you or your laptop.
The program is completely free and does not interfere with any other programs, it simply stays in your task bar and redirects your connection through Anchorfree's servers. It is very small and takes up very little memory. It is easy to use and does not require special configuration for each network. |
- Very small, takes up very little memory, unobtrusive, compatible with most browsers.
|
- Does not have configuration options.
- Every so often redirects you to a Anchorfree advertisement page.
