BEIJING, Dec. 20 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping is paying a two-day official visit to Vietnam, which his counterpart, Nguyen Thi Doan says is significant to the promotion of comprehensive strategic partnership between the two counties.
In an interview with the Chinese media, Doan says China and Vietnam share a tradition of friendship, and ties have been strengthened over the last few decades. Bilateral trade volume now totals 31.7 billion US dollars. Doan also says the two countries will seek practical ways to effectively implement bilateral agreements.
As for the agenda for future cooperation, Doan says they will focus on promoting political trust and mutually beneficial cooperation, maintaining long-term and stable economic ties and investment, and maintaining regional peace and stability in the South China Sea.
